A quarter-final spot in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup, and the local bragging rights, went in favour of West Yorkshire League side Field FC after they beat Campion 2-1.

The two sides met on Saturday at Hollingwood Lane in round four of the competition, a goal either side of half time from Nicholas Doherty and James Milner, gave Field the advantage.

Alan Morley then reduced the arrears for Campion and the game could have been closer had Jordan Missin not seen his penalty kick saved by Field stopper James Waggett.

Both Golcar United and Lower Hopton had their interest in the cup ended against two other West Yorkshire League sides.

Golcar lost 4-2 at home to Beeston St Anthony’s whilst Lower Hopton went down 1-0 at Carlton Athletic.

Steeton booked their place in the semi-final of the Taylors Timber Premier Division Cup with a 4-2 home victory over Lepton Highlanders.

Andy Briggs (two) Lee Reilly and Sam Rooke were on target for Steeton while William Hinchcliffe and a Stephen Brown with a penalty replied for the visitors.

There was a goal-fest in the Taylors Timber Premier Division, as thirty three goals were netted in just four games.

Huddersfield YMCA returned to the top spot with a 9-0 success at bottom placed Hunsworth, with Daniel Naidole netting six, and Tony Brown Joshua Bradshaw and Brighton Mugadza also scoring.

Tyersal, who are in second-bottom place, were shown no mercy by visitors Ovenden West Riding.

Trebles from George Balmforth, and Martin Woodhouse, and one each by Scott Eastwood, Morgan Griffiths Steve Fullard and Mat Coldwell ensured a10-0 victory.

Salts, who lost 4-2 to visitors Littletown in August, turned the tables with victory by the same scoreline in the return fixture.

Kyle Berry (two), Luke Rhodes and Mat Hall scored, while Mat Bugg netted both Littletown’s goals.

Halifax Irish managed to play their first league game on their new ground at West Vale since departing Natty Lane last December and celebrated with a 6-2 home win over Kirkburton.

An Ely Hey hat-trick, backed up by Antony Brown Mat Jones and Leon Hurles-Brook scoring for Irish.

Campion Reserves booked their last four spot in the Taylors Timber Division One Cup with a 4-0 home victory over last season’s winners Wakefield City, with Josh Ludford and Chris Helliwell both scoring twice.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic, were with a minute of taking a point from their Taylors Timber Division One home game against leaders Newsome at Dam Lane, but a last gasp winner from James Botarteh secured a 1-0 win and three points for the visitors.
