SALTS saw their chances of adding a West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup semi-final place to their last-four spot in the Bradford & District FA Saturday Senior Cup ended by a 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield YMCA.

Three first-half strikes, two from Daniel Naidole and one by former Huddersfield Town striker John McAliskey, ensured a comfortable win for the visitors.

The other scheduled quarter-final tie involving Steeton and Lepton Highlanders was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and has been rearranged for this coming Saturday.

Tyersal slipped to their heaviest home defeat of the season as Taylors Timber Premier Division opponents Halifax Irish beat them 10-4.

Wayne Wright and new signing Anthony Ball claimed two goals apiece but that was scant consolation as the visiting strikers ripped the Tyersal defence apart.

There were trebles for Mathew Waller and Sam Hiley, to add to two for Mat Jones and one apiece from Gareth Jones and Ben Hiley.

Ovenden West Riding – unbeaten in the league since the end of September – moved up to third ahead of Campion, whose game at home to Hunsworth was postponed, with a 7-1 home win over Littletown.

Glynne Beale, Scott Eastwood and George Bamford netted two goals each to add to one from Jordan Coduri, while Lee McKeown netted for Littletown.

Ventus-Yeadon Celtic, with only one win at home in Taylors Timber Division One this season, suffered another setback when Huddersfield-based Honley completed a 4-2 double over the Dam Lane side.

Paul Andrews and Terry Hargreaves were on target for Celtic, while two goals from David Bowker – complemented by Phil Rigby and Ben Lindley strikes – secured the points for Honley.

Steeton Reserves, without a league win since mid-October, saw that run extended when they returned home pointless after losing 5-1 at Wakefield City.

Taylors Timber Division Two leaders Thornton United, unbeaten in all competition games since late October, held on to their four-point advantage over second-placed Golcar United Reserves as Danny Walker and Liam Charles scored in a 2-0 home victory over Salts Reserves.

Golcar United's second string also picked up maximum points with a 2-0 success over Route One Rovers.

Lower Hopton and Brighouse Old Boys moved their twice postponed West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie to the Calderdale College's 3G facility in Halifax, only for the game to be abandoned after 20 minutes as falling snow made the artificial surface unplayable.
