AFTER three weeks with only a few games played due to the saturated pitches in the Taylors Timber West Riding County Amateur Football League, it was back to normal on Saturday.

Only the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie between Lower Hopton and Brighouse Old Boys and the Division Two league game involving Littletown and Lower Hopton’s Reserve teams were postponed.

The three-week lay-off did not show as Campion were soon on the goal trail with a 5-2 home victory over their Premier Division visitors Littletown.

A Craig Nicholls treble was backed up by Gavin Armitage and Adam Jarrett goals, while Joe Jagger and Matthew Bugg were on target for the visitors.

Salts also won by the same 5-2 scoreline and completed the double against leaders Lepton Highlanders.

Joe Pleasance led the way with a brace to add to strikes from Jonny Cunningham Tom Hickey and Mat Bailey. Lepton replied through Jonathon Bullivant and Joshua Cooke, but struggled to make any impact after having two players sent off for second bookable offences.

Hunsworth held their visitors Golcar United to scoring just one first-half goal but then allowed the floodgates to open as the Huddersfield side netted a further seven time to return home with an 8-0 victory.

Steeton's poor away form, which has seen them win only twice on their travels in the league, was extended when a Steve Senior hat-trick gave their hosts Ovenden West Riding a 3-0 win.

Wibsey without a league victory remain rooted at the foot of the Division One their latest setback was at home to leaders Newsome FC, who went back to Huddersfield with a 5-2 success.

Joel Bryce scored three and Ben Dunne claimed two, while both Wibsey’s goal were scored by Jonathon Burston.

Steeton Reserves switched their home fixture against Westbrook YMCA to the 3G facility at Keighley’s Marley Stadium, only for their visitors to gain a 4-0 victory thanks to three goals from Javid Robson and one by Joe Marsden.

Thornton United took their goal tally for the season so far in Division Two to 75 with a 9-2 win at Bradford FC with Danny Walker contributing four of the total.

The highlight, though, was the Bradford FC goalkeeper Michael Dougan netting from the penalty spot for his side.

Route One Rovers and TVR United, who both joined the league this season, had a 10-goal thriller on the 3G ground at the Zara Sports Centre with Rovers winning 6-4.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic's hopes of staying in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup was ended when they lost 3-1 at home to Ilkley Town.

Michael Braime was on target for Celtic, with Daniel Butt, Adam Davey and Tom Smith, scoring for Town.

Division One side Honley FC reached the last eight of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy, by winning a penalty shoot-out against Carlton Athletic Reserves 9-8, after drawing 0-0 in normal time.
