ONLY two games involving West Riding County Amateur League sides survived the weather on Saturday and both were played on 4G pitches.
The West Riding County FA Challenge Cup third-round tie between West Yorkshire League Division One side Ilkley Town and Taylors Timber Premier Division team Littletown had been doubtful in midweek.
Arrangements were therefore made to play it at Leeds University's Weetwood Hall ground – but the switch did no favours for Littletown, who lost 6-2 as Lee McKeown and Robin Knight netted their consolation goals.
Thornton United, who normally use the 4G pitch at Thornton Recreation Centre for their home games in Taylors Timber Division Two, hosted Lower Hopton Reserves and adapted better to the constant rain and blustery wind to win 8-1.
Goals came from Danny Walker (3), Josh Milner (2), Liam Carroll and Toby Rawcliffe and match-day signing Joe Keen to lift them into second place in the table.
