WEST Yorkshire League defeated derby rivals the Yorkshire Amateur League 4-1 in the first round of the FA Inter-League Cup at West Riding County FA headquarters in Woodlesford.

Steve Crawford's goal after 12 minutes put the West Yorkshire League ahead to cap 25 minutes of domination but the Yorkshire Amateur League bossed the rest of the half, Dom Finn hitting the bar after a scintillating run and Wayne Crossley striking a post from closer in.

Determined not to invite pressure in the second half, the West Yorkshire League soon went 2-0 ahead after the interval when Scott Hargreaves netted following a corner.

Graham Shaw, star man for the Yorkshire Amateur League, halved the deficit with a shot after cutting in from the right, but Hargreaves, a half-time substitute, made it 3-1 when the Yorkshire Amateur League failed to defend a set-piece.

Having eight newcomers in their squad of 16, their challenge faded, and Aiden Day, of Field, made it 4-1.

There were no matches in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division due to the representative match, but Baildon Trinity Athletic suffered a 2-1 reverse in the League Cup against lower-ranked Middleton Park.

After a goalless first half, Baildon went ahead in the 65th minute when Darren Rands was fouled after a run into the penalty box, Sean McVey coolly dispatching the spot-kick.

However, ten minutes later Middleton grabbed the equaliser via an unmarked player and got the winner with virtually the last kick of the match.

Wyke Wanderers Reserves defeated Headingley Reserves 6-2 in Alliance Division One, Hoi Pin-Truong grabbing a first-half hat-trick and scoring again just after the break.

Headingley reduced the deficit before Jack Hartley scored the goal of the game for Wyke with a 25-yard volley into the top corner.

Wyke then conceded one before substitute Karl Fawcett finished the scoring for them.

In Alliance Division One, Field Reserves drew 4-4 against Brighouse Old Boys Reserves, Ben Baker (2), Matthew Hartley and Glyn Hirst netting for Field.
