SALTS made a comfortable passage into the quarter-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

They had a 3-1 home victory over West Yorkshire League Division One side Whitkirk Wanderers, Ryan Gill setting Salts on their way with a first-half goal.

Second-half strikes from Tom Hickey and Ross Barraclough then made it 3-0 before Paul Graham grabbed a last-minute consolation.

Salt visit West Yorkshire League Premier Division side Bardsey in the next round on Saturday, February 7.

However, Salts Reserves fell just short of also reaching the last eight – this time in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy after losing a penalty shoot-out to The Hunslet Club Reserves.

Second-half goals from Adam Hussain and Luke Dennison for Salts were cancelled out by a Ryan Gosnay double to send the game into extra-time, with the score remaining at 2-2. Hunslet Club then won the spot-kick drama 6-5.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and Golcar United Reserves were also beaten. Gildersome lost 3-2 at home to Yorkshire Amateur League side St Nicholas, while Golcar's second string lost 6-1 against Rothwell Town of the West Yorkshire League.

Honley's game at home to East End Park Reserves was postponed and has been rearranged for this coming Saturday.

In West Riding County Amateur League domestic matches, Campion welcomed unbeaten Premier Division leaders Golcar United to Manningham Mills and set about demolishing the visitors' perfect run of 13 victories.

Andy Benjamin started the ball rolling with the first goal after 20 minutes, Steve Hollingworth doubling the advantage 15 minutes later.

Campion then added two goals in the second half, with substitutes Adam Jarrett and Jordan Missin netting.

Hunsworth slipped into second-bottom position on goal difference after losing 6-1 at home to Steeton.

Lee Reilly and Andy Holden both netted twice for Steeton to add to Michael Rhodes and Mark McGee strikes, while Chas Taylor claimed Hunsworth's effort.

Meanwhile, Storthes Hall moved into third place with a 6-0 home victory over Kirkburton.

Golcar United were not the only team to surrender a long undefeated record.

Ventus-Yeadon Celtic's 11-match run in Division One ended when they lost 3-1 at home to promotion rivals Dudley Hill Rangers, who climbed to second.

Kyle Shah gave Celtic the lead before Rangers hit back with two from Dominic Staunton and one by Arron Heywood.

Rangers overtook Overthorpe Sports Club, who were thrashed 7-0 by Bradford Horton Sports. Anil Singh and Lee Smith both scored trebles for Sports, with Syeed Hussain adding the other goal.

Wakefield City moved third with a 3-0 home win over Thornes, Arron Hurst (2) and Ryan Barker scoring.

Campion Reserves moved off the bottom of the section with an 8-1 demolition of hosts Steeton Reserves. Chris Helliwell and Josh Ludford both scored hat-tricks and Usman Hussain bagged a brace.

Both Littletown and Ovenden West Riding's reserve sides boosted their chances of promotion from Division Two.

Littletown beat Lower Hopton Reserves 4-1, while Ovenden had a 3-2 victory over Hunslet Parkside.
