CAMPION gained quick revenge for their West Riding County Amateur League defeat at home to Storthes Hall as they advanced to the last 32 of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup with a 4-2 victory over their visitors.

Two first-half goals from Ben Kendall, who converted assists from Liam Charles and Omar Habeeb, set Campion on their way.

Kendall then completed his hat-trick but, as in the previous week's league clash, it was the Huddersfield side who responded in the second period with Bryn Jenkins scoring twice.

Storthes Hall then missed the opportunity to bring the scores back level with a penalty that was well saved by Campion keeper Mark Bower.

Steve Hollingworth finally sealed victory with Campion's fourth goal five minutes from time, which secured a trip to play Boroughbridge next month.

Steeton also moved into the next round with a 1-0 home win over Rawdon Old Boys, courtesy of a first-half penalty converted by Lee Reilly.

This set up a short trip to Marley Stadium in round three to play Salts, who were stretched into extra time against Thornhill before emerging 7-5 winners.

Lepton Highlanders and Lower Hopton were both taken into extra time as well before emerging successful.

The Highlanders beat Huddersfield League side Heywood Irish Centre 5-4, while Mirfield-based Hopton had Declan James on target with both their goals in a 2-1 victory at Wyke Wanderers.

Tyersal and Ovenden West Riding were both surprisingly defeated, Tyersal losing 2-0 at Northowram and Ovenden going down 4-0 at home to Manchester League outfit Springhead.

Salts Reserves had Matthew Murphy, Wayne Walsh and Ryan Whitfield on target in their 3-2 home victory over AFC Pool Reserves in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

The winners will be joined in next month's third round by the reserve sides of Bay Athletic and Golcar United, as well as Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and Honley.

League action saw Wibsey miss the chance of moving back into second place in Division One when they were edged out 3-2 by local rivals Dudley Hill Rangers.

Jamie Bairstow and Philip Brogan were on target for Wibsey but James Scott, Chris Gibbons and Nick Carrucciu ensured the points went to Rangers.

Leaders Ventus-Yeadon Celtic extended their unbeaten run to seven league games with a 7-1 win at DRAM Community, with Kyle Shah (3), Adam Turner (2), Ryan Firth and Anthony Hannan running riot.

Bradford Horton Sports moved up to fourth place with a 4-3 home victory against Campion Reserves.

Premier Division leaders Golcar United were without a fixture, enabling Bay Athletic to move top on goal difference with a 3-1 success at Hunsworth.

Kieran Ryan netted twice and Brighton Mugadza also scored for Athletic, while Nat Foster replied in the first half for the beaten hosts.
