Champions Hunsworth heading for top flight

Hunsworth clinched the West Riding County Amateur League Division One title and promotion to the Premier Division next season with a game to spare after beating Westbrook YMCA 4-0.

They will be joined by Lower Hopton, who made sure of second place by beating Bay Athletic Reserves 5-0.

Wakefield City’s chance to take the runners-up spot was foiled by Ventus Yeadon Celtic, who returned home with a 3-0 win.

Premier Division: Storthes Hall 4 (Hall 2, Armitage , Rodgers), Campion 1 (Habeeb); Tyersal 2 (Metcalf, Sergejevs), Golcar United 3 (Leonard, Barnard, Martin).

Division One: Bay Athletic Res 0, Lower Hopton 5 (Stewart 4, Stevenson); Salts Res 1, Steeton Res 1; Wakefield City 0, Ventus Yeadon Celtic 3 (Turner 2, Leeming); Westbrook YMCA 0 ,Hunsworth 4 (Farrar 3, S McCallum).
