West Bowling United overcame assorted obstacles to win 1-0 at Lidget Green in the T&A League Cup.
The mouth-watering prospect between Bradford Arms and Bradford All Stars fell victim to the day’s severe frost but the remaining ties did go ahead as scheduled.
Lidget Green, last season’s finalists, and West Bowling, champions the previous season, had to contend with a difficult surface but managed to produce some good football.
The match was also held up for 25 minutes due to an injury to one of the Lidget Green players, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Both teams missed chances during an even contest and the only goal came in the 20th minute when Shazad Ashraf scored direct from a corner.
Lidget Green had chances to equalise but the Bowling defence was superbly marshalled by skipper Mohammed Sadiq, who was named man of the match.
TVR United were 3-0 winners at West Bradford Spartans, with Mohammed Ismaeel lobbing the opener after 30 minutes.
A well-worked free-kick by Mohammed Yasser doubled the lead after 65 minutes and Junid Taj sealed the victory five minutes from the end.
White Abbey Road eased to a 4-1 home success over Abundant Life church, with Nazran Khan’s equaliser their only moment of concern.
