There were no fixtures played in the Telegraph & Argus League as teams took part in the preliminary round of the Bradford & District Cup.

T&A League side Bradford Arms have had a fine start to the season but no one could have predicted their thumping win over County Amateur Division Two outfit Dudley Hill Athletic.

Ryan Metcalfe was in outstanding form, hitting six goals in a 9-3 win. Craig Thomas hit a brace and Mujaid Malik also scored, with Joe Cullen, Liam Shires and Brandan Folan replying for the hosts.

Albion Sports’ second team edged a ten-goal thriller at the new Myra Shay against Bradford All Stars.

In an end-to-end match, both teams took their chances and at 4-4 it was all to play for.

In the end the County Amateur side proved too strong, with strikes from Aaron Gibson and Ryan Basi plus a brace each from Daniel Harrison and Darren White securing a 6-4 win.

Salts Reserves, with goals from Richard Magson and Andy Stodville, lost 3-2 to T&A outfit White Abbey Road, while Salts’ first team coasted into the next round with a seven-goal thrashing of Lidgett Green – Darren Corby, Gareth Gott, Grice Burgiss and Flarney among the goals.

In an all T&A tie, Sporting Athletic were undone by a hat-trick from Wilson Pereira – one a 35-yard free-kick – which was the difference between the two teams.

The unluckiest team from the lower league was Abundant Life, who led on two occasions against St Bedes, with strikes by Desi Dixon and Naz Khan, but the visitors forced a late equaliser and then went through on penalties.

T&A League Cup holders Thornbury Youth CC had a convincing victory over Leeds Red Triangle outfit Smiling Mule, with Toseef Arshad hitting a brace.
