GUISELEY Vixens need a favour from local rivals Huddersfield Town this weekend, as victory for both can move the former off the foot of the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division table.

A result for the Terriers against Wolves is very much expected though, whereas the Vixens beating Leicester City, sat in second and fresh from securing their spot in the FAWPL Cup final, is more difficult to envisage.

The Foxes battered Wolves 6-0 last time out for their fourth win in a row, while Guiseley are still awaiting their first three points of the campaign.

Brighouse Town are eyeing up the Vixens place in the third tier and have a huge game in their promotion push this weekend.

The third-placed side can take Liverpool Marshalls Feds’ spot in second if they beat the Merseysiders at home on Sunday, closing the gap on leaders Hull City with a game in hand.

The reverse of this fixture ended goalless in February, but since then Brighouse have scored 11 goals in three games, taking seven points from an available nine.

In the North East Regional League, Farsley Celtic are preparing for their first league outing in over a month as they welcome Wallsend BC.

Separated by one place and only goal difference, it promises to be a tight affair, and likely a cagey one considering the two played just one game between them in March.

Farsley will be keen to pick up where they left off last time out, when they beat Harrogate Railway 1-0 in the cup, gaining some momentum as they prepare for eight games in the next five weeks.

Bradford Park Avenue are looking to pull away from the wrong end of the table in the West Riding Football League, as the third-bottom club take on fourth-placed Silsden.

Avenue have lost their last two games, shipping six goals, but know they owe the hosts one after suffering a 2-0 loss in the reverse back in November.

In the lower leagues, Farsley’s reserves went top of the First Division two weeks ago when they beat then-leaders Ossett Town 4-2, and they will be looking to use that confidence to overcome Second Division side Ripon City in their League Cup semi-final clash.

The winner of that tie will take on Premier Division leaders, and champions-elect, Tingley Athletic, who beat Third Division side Thackley in their last four tie.

Farsley’s development side, meanwhile, are hoping to add more cup success as they take on New Farnley in the Supplementary Cup, ahead of a clash with Ilkley Town in that same competition next week.
