BRADFORD City Women may have the next two weekends off, but then they face two midweek games in three days in a bid to polish off their FA Women’s Premier League season.

The Bantams have had a large amount of fixtures postponed since the turn of the year, with the unpredictable and ever-changing weather meaning they’ve played just six league matches in 2018.

And so the week after next will see City visit Blackburn on the Tuesday and Stoke on the Thursday as they look to play their remaining six encounters without extending their season by too much.

It’s likely to be a schedule that takes its toll on the team, especially as players try to balance work and study with football, but manager Charlotte Stuart says there is no reason to make excuses.

“As a team, we discussed the trip away midweek and decided that we are prepared to make the long journey, so there will be no excuses from us,” she said.

“Between now and then, obviously we have no competitive fixtures scheduled, so the key is to keep working hard at training to maintain our sharpness and ensure we will be at our best.”

City will go into the games with the benefit of added motivation though, having narrowly lost their last two fixtures.

The Bantams have suffered 2-1 defeats at both West Bromwich Albion and Fylde in the last two weeks, but Stuart believes both results were harsh on the team and they know it.

“Both games, we feel we have done enough to get at least a draw, if not a win, which is obviously frustrating,” she added.

“But we know that and we know the positives so our confidence is still high and will be going into our coming games.
