FAIRBANK United, who were fielding their fourth-choice keeper and missing many regulars, and Tyersal took part in one of the most bizarre matches in either clubs' history in Yorkshire Amateur League Division Two.

Depleted hosts United, who went 1-0 down inside 30 seconds, levelled with a brilliant run and finish by Shoaib Hussain, but the home side conceded straight from the kick-off.

Asim Hussain's cool penalty made it 2-2, but it needed an excellent effort by 17-year-old Abdullah Lone to keep them in it at 4-3 down at the break.

Two fine counter-attacks put Tyersal 6-3 ahead but United cashed in big time after switching to three at the back.

Asim Hussain's 35-yard scorcher made it 6-4, and Shahzad Ahmed then tapped the ball into an empty net after an error by the visiting keeper.

Shoaib Hussain's tireless running allowed Asim Hussain to bag his hat-trick from the spot and make it 6-6, and Shoaib's late brace made it 8-6 as he also completed his treble.

Faris Hussain completed United's comeback and the scoring by netting after striker Raziq Ali's shot cannoned back off an upright.

Beeston were the better team in the second half but a goal by United's skipper and leading scorer Matty Wilson against the run of play proved the difference.

St Bede's, in league action for the first time in a month, went down 2-1 at home to Horsforth St Margaret's, who made a swift start with headers from Joe Clapham and James Watson inside 20 minutes.

Home keeper Dan Lynas made a magnificent save, and Bede's had two goals disallowed in the rest of the first half.
