FRUSTRATED Bradford City Women came crashing down from cloud nine as they followed up their thrashing of leaders Middlesbrough with a 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn, favourites to win the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division, were unbeaten in seven games against the Bantams coming into the fixture and made that eight with minimal fuss in a clinical display.

Having been outclassed against a terrific side, midfielder Ellie White believes all City can do is put the result behind them and look ahead to their next fixture.

She said: "We're all gutted. It wasn't a good performance really by all of the team, so we'll just have to go again next week.

"We've just got to try and forget about it. I know it's hard to do that but we've got to.

"I don't think as a team we worked as we did last week (winning 9-2 against Middlesbrough) at all really.

"I thought the way they played in the middle, they played it around us easily. We lost our players and we weren't tracking, so we've just got to work on that and we go again."

City started the better of the two sides on the day, creating a couple of chances early on – including a shot that was brilliantly tipped onto the bar by Rovers' debutant goalkeeper Amelia Size.

However, prolific striker Natasha Flint gave the visitors the lead midway through the first half when she scooped the ball over Nat Saunders from 20 yards out.

That lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Ellie Cook headed a corner across goal for Lynda Shepherd to stab home, while Flint's second of the day wrapped things up after the interval.

It was not the luckiest day out for the Bantams, with Zoe Roberts substituted through injury after half an hour and Abi Lee coming off due to illness in the second period. However, Rovers were the better team on the day.

Next up for City are two very winnable games, following two tough ones. They take on two of the bottom three at home, with West Bromwich Albion followed up by local rivals Guiseley Vixens, and will be targeting six points.

"We're playing Guiseley soon, so that's a bit of a derby we're all looking forward to," said White.

"We just need to keep our heads up and stay positive and then I'm sure we'll get the results that we're wanting."
