BRIGHOUSE Town put their promotion push on hold for a fifth successive week tomorrow as they face Blackburn in the FA Women's Premier League Cup.

Fresh from a 13-0 humbling at Super League outfit Sunderland in the SSE Women's FA Cup, Town are underdogs once more against the favourites to win the division above.

But an upset would make it four wins from five, with the lower-ranked outfit having already beaten three of Rovers' FAWPL Northern Division rivals this season.

Town are looking to local rivals Leeds United to protect their position of third in the Northern Division One standings as the Whites take on fourth-placed Morecambe.

United picked up an unlikely point at Crewe last weekend and will be looking to make match sharpness count against opponents who have not played for two weeks.

In the division above, Guiseley Vixens face a tricky trip to face Derby, knowing a win will lift them off the foot of the table.

Laura Elford scored the only goal as County lost to Bradford last weekend and Guiseley will hope to capitalise on dampened spirits in the East Midlands to leave with three crucial points.

Leeds and Guiseley's second strings bring about the most exciting fixture of the weekend from a local perspective, as the two clash in a big local derby in the FAWPL Reserve Northern Division.

Leeds, struggling in second-bottom, have lost both of their fixtures in 2018 so far – but the Vixens themselves are on a four-game losing streak, having failed to win since the first week of January.

There is also a Yorkshire derby in Bradford, as City welcome bottom club Sheffield United knowing that a win could take them to fourth – while an emphatic one could list them even higher.

Farsley Celtic's Premier Division clash with York promises to be a close encounter, with just one place and three points separating the North East Regional Women's Football League rivals.

Postponements mean Third Division pair Thackley and Tyersal have had an extra week to prepare for their tough West Riding County League Cup ties, taking on Second Division leaders Lower Hopton and Premier Division pacesetters Tingley respectively.

Farsley's reserves also face a higher-ranked team in the cup, taking on Brighouse Athletic of the Premier Division, who have won four of their last six games.

Bradford Park Avenue return to league action after being on the wrong end of an upset against Ripon City, hoping to avoid another shock result as they visit pointless Brayton Belles.

Farsley's development team are also focusing back on the league after elimination from the Shield competition, looking to protect their position of fifth against a Boroughbridge team just one point behind them.
