BRADFORD City Women manager Charlotte Stuart isn't underestimating Derby County this weekend, despite them being on the wrong end of cup upsets in their last two outings.

The Bantams take on the Rams in the FA Women's Premier League tomorrow, with their opponents still licking their wounds after lower-league Brighouse Town knocked them out of the League Cup and the SSE Women's FA Cup.

But Stuart believes those results are more to do with the strength of Brighouse, on course for promotion this season, rather than Derby's weaknesses.

"Brighouse are a good attacking team. They are well organised and they certainly have a great team spirit, something which makes a big difference in cup games," she said, with Town having taken City to penalties in the West Riding County Cup earlier this season.

"Having said that, in our previous meeting with Derby, we certainly deserved more from the game as we were the better team for 85 minutes.

"With that result in mind, we are looking forward to tomorrow's game."

These two last clashed in the League Cup back in October, where City led 2-0 for almost all of the game.

However, Derby scored two stoppage time goals to take the tie to extra-time, where they emerged 5-2 victors.

The Bantams will be determined to put things right this weekend and ensure they are focused until the final whistle, with Stuart confident her team are ready to return from a three-week break that has been forced on them by postponements.

"It's always good to get friendlies played in order to keep the players sharp, which is why we arranged one with Farsley during the week," she said.

"Preparation is key and we have been sure not to take our foot off the gas through this bad weather."

The manager will hope that attitude carries over into tomorrow as Bradford pursue a win that could lift them into ninth.
