Brighouse Town are going for an unlikely double tomorrow afternoon as they bid to knock Derby County out of a cup competition for the second time in just seven days.

Town, who are second in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division One, beat the Northern Division Rams 3-1 in the SSE Women’s FA Cup last Sunday, thanks to a Jodie Redgrave double and a late effort from Annabelle Cass.

Repeating such a result, this time on home soil, would put them into the quarter-finals of the league cup and keep alive an unlikely chance of a double this season.

League rivals Leeds United have a completely different focus this week, as they take on Newcastle United in a fixture that could be pivotal in Northern Division One’s relegation battle.

A win for Leeds, currently second-from-bottom, would move them six points clear of Mossley Hill at the foot of the table, while victory for the visitors could lift them to seventh where they would be significantly clear out of trouble.

Leeds did manage to take Northern Division side Fylde to penalties last week in their FA Women’s Premier League Plate tie. However, their eventual defeat means they’ve won just one of their last seven games – that against ninth-tier Lower Hopton in the West Riding County Cup.

Leeds’ reserves are also second-from-bottom in the FAWPL Reserve Northern Division, but could jump one place tomorrow if they beat Hull City.

Guiseley’s reserves take on leaders Blackburn, who last week beat a Bradford side who’s fixture with Middlesbrough tomorrow has been postponed.

In the West Riding County Women’s Football League, Premier Division Bradford Park Avenue visit a Leeds Medics & Dentists side who sit one place below them.

Avenue returned from the Christmas break with a win over Brighouse Athletic last weekend, thanks to goals from Natalie Bell and Ashley Butler.

Another victory tomorrow could see them leapfrog Athletic into fifth, and they are expected to do so on paper, with their opponents having just one win to their name this season.

In the First Division, Farsley Celtic’s reserves could go top with a win at bottom side Silsden reserves – though they need a favour from Republica Internationale, who take on leaders Ossett Town.

Farsley’s development team have a much tougher game in the Second Division, looking to end leaders Lower Hopton’s 100 per cent record, while Third Division table-toppers Thackley take on third-placed Ilkley Town in another exciting fixture.
