BRADFORD City suffered elimination from the SSE Women's FA Cup after a late comeback by Leicester City.

The Bantams led for most the game thanks to Ellie White's early strike from the penalty spot – but Leicester levelled from 12 yards before stealing victory in the final minute.

Yet manager Charlotte Stuart could not fault the team's effort in their first game after the Christmas break and picked out plenty of positives, including another teenage debutante.

Stuart said: "The team couldn't have given anything more. They pressed really well, won the first and second ball and had the majority of the possession.

"We conceded a penalty and a goal within the last 30 seconds and that's the way football goes sometimes. In the end, it was probably tired legs that cost us.

"But there were certainly many positives to take. Both Jess (Dunlop) and Amy (Wood) did themselves proud.

"Jess, in particular, when she came on didn't look nervous, took it all in her stride and I was really impressed."

Dunlop was the debutante on the day, coming into the centre of midfield in the second half as a reward for a string of positive performances with City's in-form reserves side.

Wood, meanwhile, was introduced at half-time after White suffered a shoulder injury, making her third appearance of the campaign having again being a key player in the Bantams second team.

Their involvement on Sunday saw City pick up where they left off before Christmas in continuing to give young players a chance.

Dunlop became the fifth teenager to be handed her first-team debut this season, with Stuart extremely pleased to see the hard work from her and others at the club paying off.

"We pride ourselves on the work we have done over the past four years and the work we are still doing with our junior section," she said.

"So to have these youngsters getting first-team minutes is a massive positive for the club and certainly something for all our juniors to aim for.

"I hope the young players both at our club and other junior clubs see these youngsters being a part of the first team and look up to them and aspire to be them."
