BRADFORD City Women face a “must-win” game against Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow, says player-manager Charlotte Stuart.

The Bantams ended a four-game winless run with an expected victory over lower-league minnows Tyersal in last weekend’s West Riding County Cup second round.

And this weekend they are back in FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division action, taking on a Wolves side struggling at the wrong end of the table with them.

“This weekend it’s a must win game,” said Stuart.

“We might have beat Wolves last time we played them, but we started very slowly.

“Everyone is beating everyone in this league this season, so no games are going to be easy, no matter what the table may suggest.”

City fell behind midway through the first half when they hosted Wolves in September, but came alive in the final 12 minutes of the game, with Ellie White’s brilliant solo effort proving the catalyst for a convincing comeback win.

Stuart then put City into a narrow lead, which was made comfortable by a stylish brace from Abi Lee.

And after last week’s positives the Bantams will expect a win in the Midlands tomorrow, with their opponents having just one win to their name after 11 games this season.

“Everyone is happy to have got a win under their belts after a run of disappointing results, despite our improving performances,” Stuart said.

“The young players who made the step up to the first team from the reserves really impressed us too, and let us know that we have strength and depth in our squad.

“That will be important for us as the season goes on, but the main thing this weekend is picking up another win and a big three points.”
