THE West Riding County Cup dominates the local women's football scene this week and although the Tyersal v Bradford City tie has captured the headlines, there is no shortage of interest elsewhere.

Guiseley Vixens remain bottom of the Northern Division in the FA Women's Premier League after losing 5-1 at home to leaders Middlesbrough in their most recent match.

This was despite the score reading 1-1 at half-time thanks to a Fiona Worts goal for Guiseley.

Yet the Vixens should prove too strong for West Riding League Division One leaders Harrogate Town at Wetherby Road.

The season has been more promising for Guiseley's second team, who hold a mid-table position in Reserve Division North.

Their progress in the County Cup should be little more than a formality as they make the short trip to Ilkley Town for a rare Wharfedale derby.

In their most recent outing, the Vixens second string earned a commendable 3-3 draw at Hull City.

West Riding League Division Three leaders Thackley could not have had a better preparation for their tie at Premier Division pacesetters Silsden, having won their last game by a massive 14-0 scoreline at New Farnley.

However, Silsden will be equally buoyant after second-half goals from Harriet Brewer and Nic Frankland earned a 2-0 win over Bradford Park Avenue.

Among the other ties, North East Regional League side Farsley Celtic – fresh from a 6-4 extra-time FA Women's Cup win over Mossley Hill – should see off West Riding League side Harrogate Railway.

However, Mirfield-based Lower Hopton face a huge task at home to Leeds United, from Northern Division One of the FA Women's Premier League.

Bradford Park Avenue are in West Riding League action as they travel to face title-chasing Leeds hosts Yorkshire Amateur.
