GUISELEY Vixens are propping up the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division table but they had a huge boost ahead of their trip to fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion when they beat Huddersfield Town 3-2 in their League Cup derby last week.

Town were amongst the leaders in the early weeks of the season but recent set backs have seen them slip to fifth ahead of tomorrow's home game with fourth-placed Stoke City. Nevertheless the tie with Town promised to be a tough one.

Vixens fell behind to a Katie Nutter goal just before half-time then former Bradford City player Sarah Danby added a second in the 57th minute.

But, undaunted, the Guiseley side fought their way back into the game with two goals in five minutes through Ebony Njie and Nikki Berko midway through the half and substitute Emily Scott then grabbed a 90th minute winner.

Brighouse Town also made progress with a 5-1 win over Chester-le-Street, thanks to a Jodie Redgrave hat-trick and one each from Aimi Berresford and Charlotte Proud, and they now turn their attention back to their Division One promotion campaign tomorrow at home to second bottom Leeds United.

Farsley Celtic lost their first game in the North East Regional League when they went down 2-0 at Norton and Stockton Ancients and, in a league boasting some of the more unusual team names in football, they are at home tomorrow to Ryton and Crawcrook Albion Tyndale Ladies.

It is League Cup week in the West Riding Womens League and Premier Division Bradford Park Avenue will be hoping to shake off the disappointment of their 6-2 league defeat at home to Tingley Athletic when they travel to Leeds to take on First Division Republica Internationale.

Ash Butler gave Avenue the perfect start with a goal after just four minute but they were 3-1 down at half-time and Tingley had added a fourth before Nat Bell grabbed Avenue's second and final goal.

Also in League Cup action are Third Division Tyersal who leapfrogged Thackley to the top of the table with a 6-1 win over Kirkstall Crusaders in their last game. Abi Tate 3, Sarah Woodrup 2, and Jamie-Lee Lukacs were the Tyersal scorers.

Tomorrow Tyersal are at home to New Farnley and Thackley are at home to Premier Division leaders Yorkshire Amateur in the League Cup. The 'Ammers only dropped their first points of the season in their last game when they were held 1-1 by Brighouse Athletic.
