BRADFORD City women players will be participating in the Bradford City Runs tomorrow as they look to raise money for their self-funded club.

Twenty-five seniors and 40 juniors will be running the morning's 5k, while City fan Bob Hudson has chosen to run the half-marathon in support of the club.

Player-manager Charlotte Stuart is excited about bringing the club closer together as they aim to give it a financial boost.

"I am looking forward to our club being part of such a great event and being positive role models for the women and girls of Bradford," she said.

"We wanted to bring the whole club together to take part in an event within the city of Bradford, and this seemed like the perfect way.

"So we contacted the league at the start of the season and asked them to give us a grace weekend so that we could take part in the run. They agreed and didn't schedule a game in for either our first or reserve teams.

"Many of our junior girls teams are also taking part, all of us wearing our City training kit."

The main aim of the afternoon is to raise money for the club, who run on a completely separate basis from the men, with no financial aid.

The Bantams are made up completely of volunteers and are one of the only teams in the FA Women's Premier League whose players pay to play.

Stuart explained: "Each player running will be collecting their own sponsorship to help go towards vital funds needed for the club.

"People can also sponsor on our Just Giving page, which there is a link to on our website."
