CAPTAIN Shauna Legge was frustrated at Bradford City's game management as they exited the FA Women's Premier League Cup 5-2 after extra time.

The Bantams led 2-0 with just three minutes remaining but allowed Derby County back into the game before conceding a stoppage-time penalty.

Once the Rams had drawn level, Legge believes it was always going to be difficult.

"It was always going to be tough to regain the lead, especially after going behind in extra time too," she admitted.

"I feel like our heads went down and that, and tired legs, isn't the best combination.

"The result is very disappointing. It's hard to take, knowing we were 2-0 up and couldn't hold on to the lead.

"We couldn't soak up the pressure they brought and keep the cushion at 2-0 – or even at 2-1 – which is frustrating."

Bradford got off to a flying start as Ellie Olds scored her third goal in third games, nipping in at the near post to beat her marker to Yasmin Ayub's cross.

That came after Charlotte Stuart's header had hit the bar in the opening minutes, with Olds and Zoe Roberts also rattling the woodwork before Ellie White doubled the lead.

With just 15 minutes to play, the ever-energetic midfielder pressed high, tackled Derby's goalkeeper and slotted home with ease.

Sophia Bonser gave the Rams a glimmer of hope and a controversial penalty for handball then allowed Andi Bell to equalise in stoppage time.

It was the first of three goals for Bell, who gave Derby an extra-time lead before converting another hotly-disputed spot-kick.

After Karagh Tait had wrapped up Derby's incredible comeback, Legge begrudged bad luck – although not because of the referee's decisions.

Striker Laura Elford limped off the pitch when City led in Sunday's tie, joining a growing injury list.

"We've been very unlucky with injuries this season and Elford's just adds to it," said Legge.

"But injuries mean a chance for other players to be called upon and show us what they can bring to the squad.

"It's crucial that everyone sticks together, works hard, and the results will come."

City will be granted a weekend off this Sunday though, to participate in the Bradford City runs.

All senior players will run the 5K to raise money for the self-funded club and Legge believes it will be a welcome break after some frustrating results.

"I think Sunday will help us regroup and bring back the positive vibes," she said.

"Then we'll be ready for another week of training and preparation for another big game next week."
