HARSH words at half-time helped Brighouse Town Under-21s minimise the damage as they lost 5-1 at home to Hemsworth MW in the West Riding County FA League.

It was 4-0 at the interval but Town then competed better and Brad Birkhead scored a consolation, although the defeat left Brighouse second from bottom.

Assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "This was definitely a game of two halves because in the first period we were really poor."

Joe Keen was on target for Thackley Under-21s but could not prevent his team enduring a 7-1 hammering at Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

The Goole v Campion match was postponed.

Bradford Park Avenue Under-19s lost 2-0 at Ossett Town in the Northern Alliance League.

Alfie Stevens-Neale made some great saves to keep the score at 0-0 until the last 20 minutes, when poor Avenue discipline and a lack of concentration enabled Ossett to score twice.

Eccleshill United Under-19s lost 4-1 loss at Ossett Albion, despite taking the lead through Dylan Stranney.
