PAIGE Crosby hopes Bradford City Women can secure their first win since her return from injury, as they take on Derby County tomorrow afternoon.
Crosby was stretchered off against Nottingham Forest back in August, but was back on the pitch for City’s last outing as they drew with local rivals Huddersfield Town.
And while the defender was delighted to return for the game, she is hoping for a better result tomorrow.
“I’m very happy to be back playing,” she said.
“I didn’t expect to be back so quickly. I just kept doing the stretches I was told and pushing it as much as I could.
“Also, I couldn’t miss a local derby.”
City led then-league leaders Huddersfield by two goals last Wednesday, but would succumb to a dramatic comeback that included a last minute equaliser.
And Crosby admits it was a tough result for the team to take.
“Everyone gave 110 per cent, so it was disappointing that we only came away with one point,” she said.
“But we play them at home soon, so we will get the full three points on the board.”
Before that rematch, the Bantams take on Derby tomorrow and another local rival, Guiseley, next Sunday.
On a run of four games unbeaten, City will hope to continue building that momentum, especially with their FA Cup campaign and West Riding County Cup defence both to begin in October.
And with the recent performances and results promising, Crosby sees no reason to change things despite the Huddersfield draw.
“We’ll just do what we did last Wednesday,” she said.
“We’ll give all our effort until the end and make sure we have the three points this time.”
