BRIGHOUSE Town have started where they left off last season in Northern Division One of the FA Women's Premier League.

Three wins from their first three games leave them joint-top of the table with Liverpool Marshalls Feds following a 6-2 victory at Chester-le-Street.

Last year's leading scorer Jodie Redgrave hit a hat-trick before half-time, with Emily Starkie and Cara Mahoney giving Town a 5-2 lead at the interval and Becky Kendell adding another goal in the second half.

Hull City are tomorrow's visitors to the Dual Seal Stadium.

In the Premier Northern Division, Guiseley Vixens are in danger of becoming the league's yo-yo team after promotion, relegation and promotion in the past three years.

With three successive league defeats to open their season, they will need to turn the tide soon if they are to avoid another season-long struggle at the wrong end of the table.

Following last week's 2-0 defeat at Fylde, they now face a visit from Stoke City.

It has been a difficult start for the district's teams in the reserve section of the Premier Northern Division, with Bradford City, Guiseley and Brighouse all without a league or cup win to date.

After opening-day league defeats, all three bowed out of the Reserve Division Cup last week. City lost 4-2 at Newcastle, Guiseley were beaten 3-0 at home by Blackburn and Brighouse took a 7-1 hammering at home to Bolton Wanderers.

One-time Bantams player Maria Thornton struck in the 55th minute for Brighouse but Bolton were 5-0 ahead by then and went on to add two more goals in the last ten minutes.

Bryony Hanson and Amy Wood were on target for Bradford at Newcastle.

It is back to league action tomorrow, with Brighouse at neighbours Huddersfield and City at Middlesbrough.

North East Regional League side Farsley Celtic are in Women's FA Cup action again as they travel to Worksop Town for a second qualifying-round tie.

They will be keen to maintain the form that has already seen them beat Ossett Albion 5-0 in the previous round and Harrogate Town 9-0 last week in the League Cup.

On target for Farsley in that game were substitute Jordan Cheetham (3), Helen Moreton (2), Keegan Lambert, Katie Platts, Elanna Prothero and Shirley Murphy.

The West Riding County Women's League kicks off this weekend, with Bradford Park Avenue making the short trip to Brighouse Athletic in the Premier Division.

There is an interesting Bradford derby in Division Three as newcomers Thackley clash with a revamped Tyersal side in a game which is set to see up to 20 former Bantams players feature in the two squads.
