FARSLEY Celtic Juniors paid for wasting numerous chances at home to Premier Division newcomers Morley Town in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

Juniors led 2-0 via debutants Tez Ncube and Lee Ranson but well-drilled and hard-working Morley, inspired by skipper and man of the match Marc Haley, hit back in the second half via Ryan Hartley and, in the last minute, substitute Matthew Agar.

Athletico, from the defunct Spen Valley League, were 2-0 down at home to last season's runners-up Leeds Medics & Dentists.

But, playing neat and tidy football, they reduced the arrears via an 82nd-minute Mohammed Kraam free-kick but couldn't grab an equaliser.

Drighlington, promoted alongside Morley Town, started with a tense 3-2 home victory over Ealandians, with Mark Beal making up for scoring an own goal by netting the winner.

Joe Hirst and Shane Sowden had earlier given Drig the lead, while a difficult pitch there was put in the shade by an awful one at Stanningley, where Grangefield Old Boys earned a 1-1 draw.

New signing Steve Wells converted an opportunity created by Rhys Moore to deservedly put Grangefield ahead, but Stanningley nicked a point via Mick Gerraghty in the last five minutes.

St Bede's and Gildersome Spurs Old Boys, both promoted from Division One last season, met in the Championship Division, and hosts Bede's, who have strengthened during the summer, won 6-0.

Ian Horrocks gave the Bradford club the lead in the first half, and they romped it in the second half after Adeen Jawad netted a 20-yarder.

Jawad went on to score two more, with other goals coming from skilful debutant Hassan Mohammed and Andrew Gallagher, although Sam Marshall was man of the match.

Idle, also promoted, started life in Division One with a 3-1 victory at Garforth Rangers, all of the goals coming in the second half.

Aaron Irving, Jack Strudwick and a 'worldy' from Tim Simonett netted for Idle, whose man of the match was Adam Medley.

Farsley Celtic Juniors went down 4-0 at newcomers Sky Blue, conceding twice in each half.

Newcomers Tyersal, who had Jake Scott sent off, lost 5-3 at home to Farnley Sports in Division Two, with Lewis Oddy (2) and Ryan Pogson netting for the hosts.
