BRADFORD City player-manager Charlotte Stuart is keen to start strongly on home soil as the Bantams welcome Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

City slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Leicester in their FA Women's Premier League opener last Sunday.

Yet Stuart believes she saw enough in the game to suggest that Bradford can bounce back with a win in their first home Northern Division fixture.

"There were lots of positives to take from the Leicester game," she said.

"We've worked very hard on the training pitch this week to fix things that didn't work in the match.

"The spirits are very high within the team as a result and we are ready for the game this weekend."

City's main concern in the defeat was that their two goals conceded both came from set-pieces.

Captain Shauna Legge highlighted this as an area for improvement after the result and it is something that has been a focus in training.

Legge said: "That's our weakness at the minute. It's something we're aware of and working on."

With that having been addressed, Stuart is confident her side can build on strong foundations to get three points.

"Forest will provide us with a good contest on Sunday and they will give us a physical game," she said.

"We want to get the ball down and play and let the ball do the work. But most of all we want to start off on a high on our home ground."

With only midfielder Ellie Olds absent for the fixture – Hannah Smith and Abi Lee having shaken off knocks – the Bantams take a near full-strength squad into the game.

They will hope to get all three points from a fixture that finished 6-0 in their favour last term.
