THACKLEY had seven under-21s, plus some first-team players, in their 1-0 win at Oxenhope Recreation in a pre-season friendly.

Marcus Harper scored the solitary goal, and under-21 manager Phil Woollias said: “We kept possession of the ball and the lads worked really hard.

"Our next under-21 game is tonight when we face Shipley Town at Bolton Woods (7.30)."

Brighouse Town under-21s lost 2-0 at home to Ealandians in their latest pre-season match.

Town conceded a goal in the 15th minute and the match was sealed in the 80th minute when Ealandians converted a penalty.

Barry Thomas, Town's assistant manager, said: “This was a very good test for our very young team.

"Ealandians sat deep and gave us no space in the last third of the pitch, so we found it difficult to break them down."

Wyke Wanderers' under-21 are being managed by Gavin Turner, with Joe Walshe as his assistant.
