BRADFORD City Women's final game of the season is tomorrow as they take on Brighouse Town in the West Riding County Cup final.

It follows a weekend of cup finals for City's juniors, with the under-tens and under-12s having competed for trophies on Saturday before the under-13s and under-16s followed suit the next day.

It also presents City's first team with the chance to cap off in style a season which has been relatively comfortable on the pitch, compared to off it.

Huge changes to the squad and management team last summer left player-manager Charlotte Stuart with pre-season aims of simply avoiding relegation.

Yet they accomplished that target with ease, while playing good football, and can assert themselves as the best in the region for a fourth successive year with a midweek win.

"The club has been restructured this season and that has made it unsettled at times," admitted striker Laura Elford, whose goal-scoring form has suggested anything but.

"But to come out of the season with a trophy is still what we are desperate to achieve, especially in preparation for the new season."

City were among the favourites to win the FA Women's Premier League Plate competition this season, being one of the strongest remaining sides when they made the last 16.

Unfortunately neighbours Huddersfield eliminated them on penalties and eventually went on to reach the final, where they were defeated by lower-league outfit Lewes.

Yet that disappointment will only drive City on tomorrow, with Elford explaining: "As a team, this is our only opportunity to win something this season and that is what we want to achieve."

City's final against Brighouse is at West Riding County HQ in Woodlesford and kicks off at 7.30pm.
