GUISELEY Vixens need just a point at Blackpool Wren Rovers this weekend to be crowned Northern Division One champions in the FA Women's Premier League.

There was huge disappointment when the club were relegated after just one season in Premier League North but they quickly regrouped and are confident of being better prepared this time around.

In their last outing, the Vixens completed a back-to-back double over Chester-le-Street as they returned from Durham with three points from a 3-1 win courtesy of goals by Sarah Danby, Debbie Hastings and Emily Scott.

This left them all but mathematically beyond the reach of closest rivals Hull City and Liverpool Marshalls Feds.

Guiseley are nine points clear of Hull but the Humberside outfit have only three games left.

In order to lose the title now, the Vixens will have to lose their last four games – having previously lost only once all season – while Hull win their final three and also overturn a current 22-goal deficit.

Marshalls Feds are a further three points behind but have four games to play, one of which is against Guiseley.

Brighouse Town, who enjoyed a magnificent FA Women's Cup run earlier this season, must be regretting a slow start in their first season at this level as recent form has seen them close in on a possible top-five finish.

Much will depend on tomorrow's visit to Chorley, who are currently eight points ahead of Town. Brighouse have two games in hand so a win would put them within striking distance of their hosts.

With Chester-le-Street on the same points total as Chorley, fourth place is still a possibility as the Durham side would have to win their last two games to make sure of holding off the Brighouse challenge.

In the Northern Reserve Division, Brighouse could avoid the wooden spoon if they can take three points from their home game against Bradford City and Guiseley take at least a point from visiting Hull City.

In fact, a point for Brighouse will lift them off the bottom on goal difference if Guiseley can beat Hull.

Bradford Park Avenue play their final Premier Division game of the season in the West Riding County Women's League as they entertain Brayton Belles.

Avenue cannot finish above their current sixth place but have had a superb second half of the season after looking relegation candidates in the early weeks.
