BRADFORD City Women will face Brighouse Town in the West Riding County Cup final next month after a 3-0 win over Guiseley Vixens.

Top of the division below, Guiseley presented the biggest threat to City’s bid to retain their silverware.

But a clinical display comfortably did the trick for the Bantams, and left player-manager Charlotte Stuart oozing with pride.

“I couldn't be more pleased with the win, but more importantly the work-rate and desire of this team,” she said.

“We always knew it would be a tough match but we stuck to the game-plan and got the result we deserved.”

City took the lead after just three minutes when Zoe Roberts’ free-kick inadvertently sailed into the top corner, giving them the perfect start.

Laura Elford’s sixth goal in her last five games doubled that advantage before the hour, and Ellie Olds’ header wrapped things up late in the second half.

The Vixens enjoyed more of the ball on the evening, but Stuart was delighted with her team’s ability to render the statistics worthless.

“I'm very pleased with our finishing,” she said. “You win games by taking your chances and that's what we did.

“We were clinical and defended well, and that was reflected in the scoreline.”

And after putting three successive defeats behind them with back-to-back wins, things appear to be back on track for City as they aim to end the season on a high.

“We’ve put so much work in recently without getting the results we’ve deserved,” said Stuart.

“But we finally got that win last Sunday over West Brom, and that gave us the boost we needed to take into the Guiseley game.

“The last few games have been tough, but everything seems to be clicking into place now.”
