LEADERS Guiseley Vixens will be taking nothing for granted as they travel to second-bottom Mossley Hill in the FA Women's Premier League tomorrow.

This follows last week's shock Northern Division One defeat at third-bottom Crewe Alexandra.

A win at Crewe for a then unbeaten Guiseley was taken as a 'given' by most observers but it was effectively given away in the first 21 minutes as the hosts raced into a 3-0 lead.

Skipper Alarna Fuller and Emily Scott grabbed second-half replies for the Vixens but Crewe scored again five minutes from time to kill off both the game and the visitors' hopes of going through the season undefeated.

Second-placed Hull City also lost, against Chorley, which leaves Guiseley currently on 40 points and the maximum now available for their rivals are: Hull 52, Chorley 41, Chester-le-Street 47 and Liverpool Marshalls Fed 49.

A win at Mossley Hill this weekend will guarantee Guiseley a top-four finish but the real prize is the title and a return to the Northern top flight – and that prize is only four wins away.

Brighouse Town have a busy week ahead but they go into it in buoyant mood after a 4-0 win over Blackpool Wren Rovers set them on course for a top-half finish in their first FA Premier League season.

Substitute Demi Pringle (2), Jordan Allison and Jodie Redgrave were Town's scorers in the Northern Division One clash.

Brighouse have no game tomorrow but face title-chasing North East Regional League side Farsley Celtic at the County FA ground in the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Women's Cup on Tuesday night.

They are then back in action the following Sunday against a Tranmere Rovers side already consigned to the bottom position.

There was only one game played in the Northern Reserve Division last week, Bradford City drawing 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers thanks to an 87th-minute goal from player-coach Charlotte Stuart.

Tomorrow sees Brighouse Town travel to double-chasing Blackburn Rovers looking for a point to lift them off the foot of the table.

Yet Blackburn need a win from this, their final game, to overtake Huddersfield Town and clinch the title, so it is clearly an all-to-play-for occasion.

North East Regional League Southern Division leaders Farsley, with a far superior goal difference than closest rivals Sheffield Wednesday, effectively secured the title – and promotion to the Premier Division – with a 2-0 win over third-placed Westella & Willerby thanks to goals from Olivia Auker and substitute Ellie Casper.

Bradford Park Avenue, already assured of Premier Division survival in the West Riding County League after a season-long battle to avoid the drop, continued their fine form in the Supplementary Cup with a 3-0 midweek win at Farsley Celtic Development with goals from Sophie Mitchell, Alice McUrich and Nat Bell.

It is back to league action tomorrow with a trip to Hepworth United as Avenue make a belated bid for a top-half finish.
