FIELD Reserves won their West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy quarter-final 3-0 at Huddersfield YMCA Reserves.

Glyn Hirst opened the scoring for Field, when he got between two YMCA players, and his team created more chances but could not increase their lead before half-time.

The second half began with Field once again dominating and they deservedly added a second goal through Jack Webster, who showed good footwork on the edge of the penalty area before scoring.

With 20 minutes to go, Field secured the tie when Tom Ponter smashed the ball home from a tight angle.

Matthew Vickers, joint-manager of Field, said: "Brothers Christian and Calum Robinson put in superb performances for us that made the chances of any YMCA comeback minimal.

"It was a very strong performance and we were very happy to get to the semi-finals."

Field Reserves will now play Meltham Athletic on Wednesday, May 3 (7.30pm).

Field's first team play Carlton Athletic tomorrow in the third round of the League Cup at Ingfield, home of Ossett Town (7.30pm).

The league have said that the tie must be played on a neutral ground and it will be the toughest of tests for Field as Athletic are top of the Premier Division, having played 15 games and won them all.

The Premier Division match between Brighouse Old Boys and Field was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, while the Division One fixture between the Wanderers of Wyke and Whitkirk was called off for the same reason at Whitechapel Road.

Baildon Trinity Athletic had no scheduled fixture in Division Two and only have four matches left before their season finishes, while Wyke Wanderers Reserves were not assigned a fixture in Alliance Division One.
