YASMIN Ayub admits she would relish a meeting with former club Brighouse Town playing for Bradford City Women in the County Cup.

The Bantams progressed to the last four with a walkover after Altofts pulled out of their quarter-final encounter.

Meanwhile, Town beat Castleford White Rose 4-1 and their former captain Ayub says a meeting between the two would be an exciting one.

"It would be a great game and one I would look forward to if we did draw them," said the midfielder, who rejoined City before Christmas after eight years away.

"After being at Brighouse for a number of years, I would imagine it'd be strange to be in the opposing line-up.

"But Bradford are not just any club. They are where I started playing as a junior and I am happy to represent them, against any team."

Ayub signed for Kirklees in 2009, who became Brighouse four years later, before returning to City at the back end of 2016.

It has not taken her long to become a key player for the Bantams either. She has started all three games since her move back and helped the team to two wins and a draw.

Those results have given City plenty of momentum – but they will not be underestimating any of the teams left in the cup.

"Confidence is high, especially after our convincing (5-1) win at Newcastle, but myself and the girls know that there are some very good teams in this competition," said Ayub.

Brighouse's league rivals, and current leaders, Guiseley Vixens are another potential opponent, while Brighouse Athletic face Farsley Celtic tomorrow to determine the fourth semi-finalist.

City are ready for whoever the draw gives them, although Ayub said: "Even though we are looking forward to the challenges, we are not taking them lightly."
