FARSLEY Celtic travel to Brighouse Athletic tomorrow looking to fill the last remaining place in the West Riding County FA Women's Cup semi-finals.

Last week's scheduled tie was postponed but Farsley, top of the North East Regional League Southern Section with a 100 per cent record, will still be clear favourites to progress.

Yet West Riding League Premier Division side Brighouse are enjoying one of their best seasons to date and, with games in hand, are not yet out of the title race.

Defending champions Bradford City went through unopposed after opponents Altofts conceded their quarter-final tie.

Meanwhile, Brighouse Town enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win over Castleford White Rose and Guiseley Vixens had a hard-fought 2-1 win at Leeds to ensure that three of the last four clubs in the competition were from the FA Women's Premier League.

Liz White set up Sarah Danby to open the scoring for Guiseley at Leeds and was then brought down in the box for Danby to add a second from the penalty spot, giving the unbeaten Premier League Division One North side a 2-0 interval lead.

Undaunted, Leeds hit back after the break to reduce the arrears through Helen Wagstaff but Guiseley held out and now look forward to what could be an epic league meeting with leaders Chorley at Nethermoor Park tomorrow.

Chorley currently enjoy a four-point lead in this division but Guiseley have four games in hand as they bid for an early return to the top flight after last season's relegation.

Brighouse Town, the region's last surviving Women's FA Cup candidates, ensured their County FA Cup semi-final place as they hit back from a goal down at the interval to seal victory with second-half goals from Annabelle Cass (2), Emily Starkie and Charlotte Proud.

Despite their cup successes, Town are still embroiled in a relegation battle and will need to dig deep once again this week as they travel to County Durham to face mid-table Chester-le-Street.

In the FA Women's Premier League North reserve section, Guiseley remain bottom after a 6-1 defeat at leaders Fylde, where Ikra Ali scored the consolation.

But Bradford City, having played only seven games, were once again thwarted by the weather as their game at Brighouse Town was postponed.

Third-bottom Town go to third-placed Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, with Guiseley at home to second-placed Newcastle United and Bradford City – who could still make a title challenge if they win their four games in hand – are at home to second-bottom Hull City.

Bradford Park Avenue, with no game last week, are due back in action with a West Riding League Premier Division fixture at home to Hemsworth. They will be seeking a third successive victory to continue their climb away from the relegation zone.

In Division One, Bradford City A have withdrawn from the league – and Tyersal's season showed no sign of improving either as they went down 6-0 at joint-leaders Yorkshire Amateurs ahead of a visit this weekend from Tingley Athletic, who share top spot.
