BRADFORD City Women take on Altofts tomorrow with a place in the West Riding County Cup semi-finals at stake.

Holders City have shown their class in the competition this season, beating both Ossett Albion and Yorkshire Amateur 8-0 to reach this stage.

They go into this weekend's game with a spring in their step after a positive week and player-manager Charlotte Stuart said: "We've had great preparation.

"The team are on a high after a big win in Newcastle and gave Doncaster a good game on Thursday in a friendly.

"Sunday again presents another chance for fringe players to be involved – but as always, we won't be taking the game lightly. It is a cup quarter-final after all."

After watching both cup games so far from the dugout, Stuart and player-assistant Faye Boshell will feature this weekend as City put full focus on defending their crown.

Striker Laura Elford is also available again after suspension and will hope to mark her return with a goal to take her into double figures for the season.

But as Stuart stressed, fringe players will also be granted opportunities.

Bryony Hanson, Rebecca Sherrand and Kirstie Hunt all featured on Thursday, the latter two players having previously played in this competition after impressing with City's reserves.

Sherrand scored against Yorkshire Amateur and Hunt played the full 90 minutes at Ossett, while both came off the bench at Newcastle in last weekend's 5-1 league win.

Goalkeeper Katie Bailey, who has conceded just twice for the reserves this season, could also be given a start between the sticks.

Sixth-tier Altofts have lost just one of their last nine games, a run that has not only taken them to this stage of the cup but also to fourth in the league.

But City remain overwhelming favourites and are just three wins away from a fourth successive County Cup title.
