BRIGHOUSE Town emulated all the higher-ranked clubs in West Yorkshire by reaching the third round of the FA Women's Cup as they grabbed a sensational last-gasp victory at Long Eaton United.

The reward for Town's 4-3 success in Nottinghamshire is a home tie against Women's Super League Two side Everton on Sunday, February 5, as well as £900 in prize money.

It began well for Rob Mitchell's side at Long Eaton as they found themselves two goals up inside 23 minutes, only for the hosts to draw level before the interval and then take an early second-half lead.

Undaunted, Brighouse hit back with an equaliser as former Bradford City striker Jodie Redgrave completed her hat-trick – and the same player then bagged an injury-time winner as she coolly rounded the keeper to slot the ball home.

It is back to FA Women's Premier League Northern Division One action for Brighouse tomorrow as they travel to Crewe Alexandra looking to pull further away from the relegation zone.

At the other end of the table, unbeaten Guiseley Vixens were without a game last weekend and lost top spot as Chorley leapfrogged them following a 4-1 win at Crewe.

With Guiseley idle again tomorrow, they will fall further behind if Chorley take points from their game at home to Liverpool Marshall Feds.

Guiseley are then in County Cup action next week, so could be facing a huge nine-point deficit when they do finally return to league action at the end of the month, with their only consolation being the six games they will have in hand by then.

In the Northern Section Reserve Division, rock-bottom Guiseley travel to Brighouse this week and Bradford City are at home to Middlesbrough.

There appears to be some uncertainty over the immediate future of the Bradford City A team as they have repeatedly failed to raise a side for their West Riding County Women's League Division One games due to injuries and unavailability.

Having failed to take a point from any of their four games to date, they have also accumulated a deficit of nine penalty points and have not been scheduled to play any games in the next four weeks.

There was good news for Bradford Park Avenue this week as they completed a superb 3-2 win over well-placed Hepworth United in the Premier Division to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation.

Nic Chamberlain and debutant Ellie-Jay Kendal fired Avenue two up and although Hepworth pulled it back to 2-2, a second-half strike from Nat Bell secured the points.

Tyersal Athletic crashed 7-1 to Brighouse Athletic in their delayed County Cup tie as Vicky Mladenovic hit six of the goals.
