FARSLEY Celtic Juniors dominated virtually the whole of their Leeds & District FA Senior Cup tie at home to Hunslet Club but only won the second-round tie 4-3.

In-form West Yorkshire League Premier Division side Hunslet profited from a defensive clanger to lead in the tenth minute but trailed 2-1 by half-time to goals by Ben Wilson and dangerman Danny Lyons.

Lyons and second-half substitute 17-year-old Loz Patterson, who also hit the bar with a 20-yard screamer, then made it 4-1 but Celtic switched off in the last seven minutes and conceded twice.

If Juniors are getting their hopes up, Wakefield & District League newcomers Real Moor look like potential winners after triumphing 6-0 at Grangefield Old Boys.

In the Yorkshire Amateur League, off-key Calverley United let in a goal in each half in losing 2-0 at home to Leeds Medics & Dentists in the Championship Division, making it only two points from six matches.

But promotion candidates Drighlington, buoyed by two brilliant Josh Franklin goals in the first half, beat visitors Thornesians 5-1.

Thornes made it 2-1 before Brett Thompson (2) and Mikey Durham wrapped up the victory for sixth-placed Drig, who can go top if they win their games in hand.

St Bede's remain third in Division One after a 2-1 triumph at Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds but had to come from behind. Derry Myers equalised from a Jarad Peltier cross and Nigel Murray won it with a beautiful curler into the top corner.

Leaders Gildersome Spurs Old Boys defeated visitors Garforth Rangers 5-2 to stay unbeaten and led 2-0 at half-time via super sub Mikey Hall, getting a rare start, and Lucas Scott.

Ben Keedy, Aidi McCormack and Hall secured the points in the second half, with Rangers netting to make it 3-1 and 4-2.

Second-bottom Grangefield Old Boys' Reserves lost 4-1 at sixth-placed Dewsbury Rangers, conceding goals to Rob Smith (2), Jack Smith and substitute Aaron Wroe.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves remain fifth after a 3-1 home defeat against second-placed Leeds Independent but took the lead via Danny Kemp in the 27th minute.

Idle are up to second in Division Two after defeating close rivals Sandal Wanderers 6-2, benefiting from playing on a 3G surface rather then grass.

Captain Aaron Irving celebrated his birthday with a brace, while James Royal and Tom Simonett also scored as they handed Wanderers only their second defeat of the season.

Goals of the game, however, came from Ryan Doherty, with a 40-yard cross-shot, and Adam Medley, after Ryan Mitchell turned into Lionel Messi with a dazzling run and slide-rule pass as Wanderers dropped to sixth.

In Division Three, Mahmadu Dambe made it three hat-tricks in as many games as hosts Fairbank United defeated Norristhorpe 4-1.

Shoaib Hussain's driving run and 20-yard shot gave United the lead and although Norristhorpe equalised, Dambe nodded home a wonderful free-kick by Hassan Iqbal to make it 2-1 and added his second on the counter-attack seconds before half-time.

United keeper Akif Waseem then made some crucial saves before Dambe completed his treble after good interplay with Hussain.

Basement boys St Bede's Reserves lost 8-3 at Leeds City Old Boys Thirds in Division Five, Mick Duggan (2) and Brandon Hammond netting in the first half for the losers.

But Drighlington Reserves are up to fifth on the back of a 3-2 triumph at Norristhorpe Reserves. Charlie Leather's brace for Drig was split by a Brad Wild equaliser in the first half. Richard Widdowson made it 3-1 with ten minutes left, only for Jack Brazier to ensure a tense finish with Norristhorpe's second goal in the 85th minute.
