THE chances of any local league football match ending up 0-0 – let alone a clash between the Premier Division's bottom club and the next-to-bottom Division One outfit – are remote.
Yet that is exactly what happened in the Memorial Trophy tie between Dewsbury West Side and top-flight Athletico in the Spen Valley League.
If that result was surprising, then so was hosts Howden Clough – who are fourth in the Premier Division – only beating Division One bottom club Howden Clough 3-2, with Jack Scott bagging a brace for the losers.
More predictable was Girlington defeating visitors Norfolk 6-2 thanks to efforts from Adeeb Jawad (2), Mohammed Qasim, Rehan Butt and Adil Tanvir, plus an own goal.
Savile Youth won the derby 4-1 at home to Savile Town, while Division One leaders George Healey triumphed 7-1 at Inter Batley, with Luke Newsome scoring four times.
