IT’S now eight goals in two games for Hannah Campbell after she helped Bradford City Women to their first ever league double over Stoke on Sunday.

Last week’s six-goal star scored twice in an exceptional first half that was rounded off by Abi Lee’s sumptuous scoop.

Stoke pulled one back late on, but the points were already wrapped up by a City side looking as sharp as ever since the fixture list granted them a week off.

“The team definitely benefited from having a break,” Campbell said. “It gave the players with knocks and niggles a chance to get back to full fitness.”

The break did her form no harm either, as she explained: “I played for the reserves in that week off and managed to get a goal in that game.

“Every game you score in boosts your confidence and you can’t wait until the next game so you can hopefully get on the scoresheet again.”

Campbell’s confidence was clear as crystal on Sunday as her emphatic finish broke the deadlock after only two minutes.

Returning duo Shauna Legge and player-manager Charlotte Stuart then combined for the former Leeds player to score her second.

Stuart’s 'Hollywood' ball found Legge on the right wing, who in turn put it on a plate for the in-form forward.

But if a single goal could capture the confidence in this team right now, it was City’s third.

Laura Elford found Lee’s darting run with a slick backheel, and the midfielder lifted the ball over the goalkeeper in style for her first of the season.

Stoke regrouped at the interval and were more solid in the second period, applying enough pressure to add a late consolation.

But that mattered little to City. After going into that week off following two luckless losses, their results are matching their performances again.

They will be after a third successive win when they welcome league leaders Blackburn in the FA Cup this weekend, and they are certainly up for the challenge.

“The team will be raring to go and will treat it like it's the cup final,” Campbell said.

“We have been very unlucky with the last two games against Blackburn, so we will be really looking to get the result this Sunday.”
