THACKLEY Reserves climbed to second place in the Lancashire League after a hard-fought 4-3 win at Ossett Town Reserves.
The Dennyboys started well but a series of defensive blocks and good goalkeeping kept them at bay.
It was somewhat against the run of play that Ossett went in front – but they did not hold the lead for long, with Nathan Nyamsi-Henji levelling for Thackley three minutes later.
Almost immediately the Dennyboys fell behind again and they missed opportunities to score before half-time.
Tom Storey took only four minutes after the restart to pull Thackley level for the second time but they again found themselves behind.
Storey then restored the status quo for the Dennyboys for a third time before, with seven minutes remaining, they took the lead for the first time in the match when Joe Keen added his name to the list of scorers.
The Northern Under-19 Alliance match between Shelley and Thackley and the Lancashire League game between Liversedge Reserves and Bradford RIASA were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
