FAIRBANK United and Idle had a humdinger of a Bradford derby in the second round of the Yorkshire Amateur League's Hancock Cup.

Mahmadu Kante opened the scoring for Fairbank after 20 minutes from close range but two quick goals edged Idle ahead, with Shoaib Hussain heading the equaliser before the interval.

With 70 minutes gone, Omar Kante netted a glorious shot from the edge of the area to put Fairbank 3-2 in front but United were thwarted twice by the superb Idle keeper before the visitors made it 3-3 in the 80th minute.

Idle scored early in the first half of extra-time but Mahmadu Kante's persistence enabled him to level matters at 4-4.

Both teams pressed for the winner and a parry from Idle's keeper was duly punished by super sub Razziq Ali to give Fairbank a 5-4 victory.

Idle's scorers in what is the league's intermediate cup were Jack Strudwick, Aaron Irving, Chris Heald and Tim Simonett.

In the second round of the Marflitt Trophy for sides in the top three divisions, defending Premier Division champions Farsley Celtic Juniors were in great form, winning 6-0 at Calverley United.

In Division One, next-to-bottom Gildersome Spurs Reserves lost 4-0 at vastly-improved Garforth Rangers.

But Gildersome Spurs Old Boys beat inexperienced basement boys Rothwell 7-1, with Lucas Scott (4), Ben Keedy (2) and Dale Dennison on target as they climbed a place to third.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves had keeper Ross Monaghan to thank in their 6-2 victory at Old Batelians, Stephen Wells and a deflected Danny Kemp shot putting Juniors 2-0 ahead, Ben Wilson's super shot making it 3-1 before half-time.

Bruno Garridobagi netted for the visitors early in the second half but the old boys replied before Kemp (penalty) and Nick Gray finished them off.

St Bede's drew 2-2 at home to Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds but should have won, man of the match Gary Sunderland and Stephen Drake netting equalisers for Bede's although Medics felt they had a legitimate goal chalked off.
