EVERYTHING went to plan for Yorkshire Amateur League outfit Farsley Celtic Juniors when they visited Halifax League opponents Denholme United in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

Premier Division side Celtic led 3-0 by half-time, with Joe Firth, Danny Lyons and an own goal obliging, and bounced back from conceding a penalty to the First Division hosts straight after the interval to win 5-1, with Ryan Collett and 17-year-old Loz Patterson adding goals.

In an all-Yorkshire Amateur League tie, Championship side Drighlington are also through to the third round after a 4-0 victory at Division One neighbours Gildersome Spurs Old Boys.

On the mark for Drig, who led 3-0 at half-time in an excellent overall display, were Joe Hirst (2) and Brett Thompson (2), with manager Bob Greenwood delighted by his team's performance.

Grangefield Old Boys took the lead via Andy Kenyon in their home tie against Horbury Town but lost their discipline, having a player sent off for two yellow cards, and ended up losing 3-1.

Drighlington Reserves keeper Josh Moylan was the hero in their surprise victory at Division Two side Ealandians Reserves in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

Moylan made three super saves in the penalty shoot-out, which Division Five side Drig won 3-0 after the teams had finished 2-2 at the end of extra-time.

Noel Hines and Ben Garner netted for Drig, who trailed 1-0 but conceded a late equaliser to force the shoot-out.

Yorkshire Amateur League Division Two hosts Idle were only trailing Huddersfield & District League Division One opponents Meltham Athletic 2-1 at one stage but ended up losing 6-3.

Jack Strudwick (2, inlcuding a penalty) and Aaron Irving netted for Idle, who ultimately paid for defensive errors.

Craven League leaders Silsden Whitestar won 2-1 at Grangefield Old Boys Reserves but it was not a vintage display from the home side.

St Bede's, who went ahead via a first-minute free-kick by Lee Cornforth, should have won their tie against visitors Wyke Wanderers Reserves.

Wyke equalised but skipper Stephen Drake and Nick Scullion put the home side 3-1 in front with 23 minutes left – but the pivotal moment was when Wyke's keeper made a great save in the 70th minute and Wanderers scored at the other end ten seconds later.

Wanderers made it 3-3 but still Bede's were missing chances before they lost the penalty shoot-out 4-2.

In Yorkshire Amateur League domestic matches, Calverley United's poor form continued in the Championship Division as they lost 5-0 at Morley Town to make their record four points from seven games.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves won an entertaining Division One clash 6-4 at home to Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds.

Celtic were 2-0 up after eight minutes via Bruno Garridobagi and Steve Wells, with the latter adding another after 13 minutes to make it 3-1.

A great Matty Ingham strike made it 4-1 but Celtic were guilty of overplaying in the wrong area of the pitch and Medics made it 4-4 before Ben Wilson's late brace sealed victory as Celtic went third.

In Division Three, Fairbank United were superb in defeating visitors Leeds Modernians 7-2, Omar (2) and Mahmadu Kante putting the hosts 3-0 ahead.

Captain Bilal Saleem's blockbuster and a subtle chip by substitute Faris Khan made it 5-0 and the remaining four goals were shared by the teams, with Razzaq Ali and Zeeshan Khan netting for United.
