GRANGEFIELD Old Boys thumped Beeston St Anthony's 5-0 in the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield to make a pleasing return to winning ways.

Their strikes came from Grant Jackson, Kristian Dacre, Kev Brown, Jack Kitson and an own-goal, which set up a tie at home to Leeds Modernians in the second round.

A Beeston spokesman admitted: "We were outworked, outplayed and outclassed. Grangefield wanted it more from start to finish."

Drighlington beat Collegians 4-2 after leading 4-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Josh Frankland, Brett Thompson, Danny Moon and Shane Sowden.

Collegians relaxed and made a concerted effort to turn things round and they were pleased to pull two goals back through Louis Wrafter and James Coverdale's scorcher.

Drighlington now entertain holders Alwoodley in round two.

Stanningley shocked Premier Division leaders Farsley Celtic Juniors OB 3-1 to book a home tie against Teesside League outfit Redcar Newmarket.

Yorkshire Amateur League domestic action saw Mount St Mary's win 2-1 at Calverley United in the Championship.

St Mary's had the slope advantage in the first 45 minutes and benefitted to the tune of a 2-0 lead, with Jordan Talbot and leading scorer Conor Parsons on target.

The second half required strict defensive discipline and this they delivered, restricting Calverley to one goal from James Beaumont.

In Division One, Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves beat Garforth Rangers 2-0 with a Steve Wells penalty and a goal for Danny Kemp.

Grangefield OB Reserves lost 4-1 at Leeds Independent, while St Bede's crashed 2-0 at home to Batelians.

In Division Two, the Idle and Centralians game was abandoned after a Centralians player broke his leg.

In Division Three, Fairbank United drew 3-3 at home to Farnley Sports Reserves after a blood and thunder game.

Farnley are now second with 13 points from six matches and Fairbank lie seventh with eight points from four games.

Fairbank dominated the first half but missed numerous golden opportunities.

Despite their territorial superiority Fairbank gave Farley a chance that Andy Punter converted and his example was followed by Mahmadu who swept a parry from the Farnley keeper home to equalise.

It was a tight start to the second half but a second moment of opportunism from Mahmadu allowed him to punish a defensive misunderstanding.

A ball down the centre freed Andy Punter, whose shot was diverted into the corner of the net.

Mahmadu completed his hat-trick with a header but then wasted a great chance by missing the target.

There had to be last-minute drama and Fairbank conceded a free-kick near the left touchline and a header from the kick back across goal was knocked home by the other hat-trick hero Andy Punter.

In Division Five, Drighlington Reserves lost 2-1 at Leeds City OB III.
