BRADFORD City travel to unbeaten leaders Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women's Premier League (North) tomorrow – but they could not be in a more positive mood.

Having disposed of Crewe in the League Shield, to set up a last-16 local derby clash with Huddersfield Town, they followed up with a 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in the league at Eccleshill United.

Player-manager Charlotte Stuart got City off to a fine start with a goal in the eighth minute, while Laura Elford added a second before half-time, and Forest never looked likely to get back in the game.

After the interval, Shauna Legge and Elford added two more goals in quick succession, then Hannah Campbell grabbed two in the last 20 minutes to wrap up the scoring as City climbed to fourth place, albeit having played more games than their rivals.

Injury problems have hampered City's ability to fulfil their reserve and A team fixtures this season but there is hope of playing a Reserve Division (North) derby against Guiseley Vixens this weekend and will be hoping they can collect a first point of the season.

Guiseley's first team are still on course for an early return to the Premier Division as they go into their Division One (North) match at home to pointless Mossley Hill Athletic as unbeaten leaders.

Brighouse Town are still finding their feet in Division One, following their North East Regional League title triumph last season, and they entertain Leeds Ladies looking for a second win of the campaign.

In the West Riding County Women's League, Bradford Park Avenue look like facing a tough fight for survival in the Premier Division after their latest game, a 5-2 defeat at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, left them with only three points from five games and with the worst goal difference in the division.

Nat Bell and Alice McUlrich twice equalised against Hemsworth but an already extensive injury list was exacerbated by further injuries on the day, leaving Avenue with only nine players, and the home side ran in three more goals to seal their win.

Promoted Battyeford Belles lost 2-0 at Hepworth United and while third-bottom Avenue take on second-bottom Silsden at Westwood tomorrow, the Belles are at home to well-placed Tingley Athletic in their attempt to pull away from the foot of the table.

In Division One, the Bradford City A team and Tyersal – both still looking for their first points – are at home to Republica Internationale and at Wetherby Athletic respectively.
