BRADFORD City shook off their recent disappointments to complete a comprehensive 4-1 victory over visiting Leicester City at Eccleshill United, putting some distance between themselves and the relegation zone in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Section.

Hannah Campbell opened the scoring after just three minutes and, with Lucy Sowerby and Laura Elford adding two more before the break, City were well in control even before Elford added her second in the 57th minute.

Leicester did pull one goal back with 17 minutes to go but City never looked like losing and now go into their FA Women's Premier League Plate game at Crewe Alexandra tomorrow in positive mood.

Guiseley Vixens were in FA Women's Cup action last week and comfortably saw off the challenge of Rotherham United as they ran out 7-2 winners with goals from Sarah Danby (2), Emily Scott (2), Keegan Lambert, Chantelle O'Hara and Liv Thackray.

Brighouse Town also won their third round qualifying game, 2-1 at Stockport County, but there was no joy for Farsley Celtic or Ossett Albion, who lost to Merseyrail Bootle and Hartlepool United respectively.

Guiseley, from Northern Division One, are in knockout action again tomorrow when they host Huddersfield Town in a League Plate tie.

In the West Riding Women's League Premier Division, Bradford Park Avenue are desperately seeking a change of fortune as they travel to an out-of-touch Ossett Town side tomorrow.

In their last game, at home to Brighouse Athletic, Avenue fought back from a goal down to equalise through Alice McUrich but the visitors ran out 4-1 winners with a hat-trick from Nic Holdsworth and one from Phoebe Durkin.

Bradford City A are certainly not having things their own way in Division One this season and remain pointless after two games. Tomorrow they are at unbeaten Tingley reserves and, after a 7-0 thrashing at high-flying Farsley Celtic reserves, they could hardly be less confident.
