BRADFORD CITY are in good spirits as they start a run of away games in the FA Women's Premier League (North) this month with a trip to Derby County tomorrow.

It has been a difficult start for City but having picked up their first victory of the season when they won at Huddersfield Town, they added a first home win with a 5-1 thrashing of visiting Stoke City at Eccleshill United.

Charlotte Stuart picked up a booking in the 27th minute but, undeterred, she promptly grabbed the first goal soon afterwards.

City conceded an equaliser in the 58th minute to herald a hectic last half-hour. Stuart added her second, Stoke had one player booked and one sent off, while two goals from Lucy Sowerby and a late strike from Jess Graham secured a resounding success.

In the First Division of the Northern Section, relegated Guiseley have made a confident start in their bid to regain Premier status.

Following a hard-earned 1-1 draw with Leeds, they took on newly-promoted Brighouse Town and, despite Jodie Redgrave equalising Keegan Lambert's 22nd-minute opener for Guiseley, late goals from Liv Thackray and Emily Scott secured a 3-1 win for the home side to go top.

Next up is a crunch game tomorrow at unbeaten second-placed Chorley while Brighouse Town are at home to Chester le Street.

The Reserve Division Cup saw Brighouse finish 5-0 winners over Guiseley while Bradford City went down 4-1 at Middlesbrough.

Injuries and unavailability left Bradford City A unable to raise a side for their West Riding County Women's League Division One game at Brighouse Town Development but they face a rare derby clash with Premier Division basement club Bradford Park Avenue at Horsfall tomorrow in the West Riding League Cup.

Avenue were sharp in front of goal in their last outing at Selby-based Brayton Belles as Alice McUrich, on her debut, Nat Bell, Annie Roberts, Katie Dormer and Jade Nelson all found the net.

But the Belles led 4-1 at the break and added another five in the second half to finish 9-5 winners.
