BAILDON Trinity Athletic picked up their first point of the season and moved off the foot of Division One after thumping Garforth Rangers 5-1 in the West Yorkshire League.

After just ten minutes, Baildon were given the perfect start when a dangerous corner was whipped in by Darren Rands and swept home by captain Elliot Moody.

It was soon followed by a second goal when, on 20 minutes, a second corner by Rands was not dealt with by the Garforth keeper and found its way straight into the net.

Baildon continued to establish their authority after the interval and could have easily scored more.

Against the run of play, and on a rare counter-attack, a swift ball over the full back set the Garforth striker free to pull a goal back for the visitors.

But Baildon responded well and their reward was a third goal following some great solo work by man of the match James Pinto, who fired his shot into the far corner of the net from the edge of the area.

They increased their lead when good work from full back Lee Rands saw Sean McVey stamp his mark on the game with a cool finish.

It could have been a cricket score, with Trinity having another Moody goal disallowed along with a couple of chances for substitute Ben Craven and left back Lee Newall.

The match was wrapped up with ten minutes remaining when striker Lee Mathers also got in on the act with a superb strike.

Wyke Wanderers defeated Division One leaders East End Park 4-2 to climb to fifth in the table.

Goals came from captain Gavin Turner, Matt Conway on his first start of the season, a brilliant Sibusiso Moyo individual strike and man of the match Joe Entwhistle.
