WIGTON Moor lost 5-2 at home to defending Premier Division champions Farsley Celtic Juniors in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

The hosts led before Farsley hit back with three goals from former Wigton man Saeed Osman, Craig Farrand and Louis Surtees.

Wigton reduced the arrears to 3-2 after the interval but the effect of that goal was soon nullified by Danny Lyons, who completed the damage with a double.

Grangefield OB lost 6-2 at home to newcomers Stanley United, with Grant Jackson and Andy Kenyon on target for the hosts.

In the Championship, Drighlington won 4-0 at Shire Academics with goals from Shane Sowden (2), Ben Garner and Jake Mozier.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves edged Grangefield OB Reserves 4-3 in Division One.

The Celts' goals came from Loz Patterson, Rhys Perry and a double for last season's leading Division Two scorer Steve Wells.

St Bede's won 3-1 at Old Batelians after falling behind. A lethargic beginning was punished by Rob Johnson of Batelians, who skipped past four half-hearted challenges to give his side an ideal start.

Saints improved marginally and equalised when Tawheed whacked a half-clearance from all of 20 yards into the top corner.

An excellent half-time team-talk calling for more patience and accuracy worked well for the visitors.

Ty Akram hit home a rasping header at the back post and young Tawheed finished with aplomb for his second goal, with skipper Stephen Drake named man of the match.

Idle won 6-1 at Colton Athletic in Division Two to make a flying start to their debut season in the league.

Two goals in the first half and four in the second were just reward for some super passing that earned a commanding success.

The scorer for relegated Colton Athletic was Chris Hick, their leading scorer last season, in the 78th minute.

The Idle players finding the back of the net were J Strudwick (2), Irving, Medley, Broadbent and C Dawson.

In Division Three, Fairbank United won 3-2 at Churwell Reserves.

A tense affair played in miserable conditions saw Fairbank control the first half and Omar Damba celebrated his debut with a goal from the angle into the top corner.

Churwell dominated much of the second half and equalised after a botched Fairbank clearance.

Fairbank regained the lead when Siam Khan pounced from close range, followed by the impressive Imbrahim Khan hitting a spectacular third from the edge of the area.

The visitors conceded a penalty, duly converted, but an impressive rearguard action led by skipper Bahlal Salim ensured Fairbank secured the points.
